Colder’s “To the Music”

Colder, a.k.a. Marc Nguyen Tan, is a French artist I ran across the other day.  I don’t know a heck of a lot about him, other than he used to be a graphic designer and video producer.

The track that caught me is “To the Music.”  It’s a post-punk Krautrock dance number that skews on the moodier side of funkiness.  It’s got a thumpin’ spine for a bassline and a sharp slink of guitar tings for the spaces between.  Lyrically, it keeps things simple, and the title pretty much sums it up.

“To the Music” is music made to make you move.  Nothing more, nothing less.  But it’s not your run-of-the-mill dance groove.  There’s a bit more bite, a slight bit of sleaze, and a touch of darkness.

See how Colder’s “To the Music” moves you.

And then check out how Nguyen Tan’s prior graphic designer/producer skillset comes into play with this stylish music video.
