I just love the band name You’ll Never Get to Heaven, especially when they possess a sound as captivating as this Canadian duo.
Alice Hansen and Chuck Blazevic have been collaborating as You’ll Never Get to Heaven since 2012, exploring and experimenting with hazy dream-pop ambience and lush lo-fi atmospherics.
I remember hearing about these guys a few years ago. But for one reason or another, I never had the opportunity to experience their music. Then they popped up on a playlist earlier today, and that was that.
The track is “Caught in Time, So Far Away,” which is another name I just love. Sort of captures my state of mind at the moment. Anyway, this one just breezes through on a whispery voice and subdued rhythm, dream-like in a dazed melody that’s ripped from a more innocent time. It kind of reminds me of the Chromatics if filtered through the Cocteau Twins.
