DJ-Kicks: Kruder & Dorfmeister

I intended to post this one a couple of days ago as a morning refresher.  Kruder and Dorfmeister do wonderful downtempo trip-hop, ambient drum ‘n bass, and all around great chilled grooves.  So listening to these guys in the morning makes a whole lot of sense for starting the day off on the right foot.

But it’s now a few days later and it’s the afternoon.  So not quite what I intended.  No matter.  K&D can work anytime you want them to, especially if you just need to take things down a notch or two.  And their DJ-Kicks compilation does just that, with excellent offerings from The Herbaliser, Flytronix, Thievery Corporation, and Hardfloor.

Here’s K&D’s “DJ-Kicks” mix …

DJ-Kicks:  Kruder & Dorfmeister straight up from 1996.

And now that I’ve had a few days to let this one percolate, I’m going to also offer up their “Conversions: A K&D Selection” compilation as well, which is also assembled and mixed by K&D.  This one’s a bit more up-tempo, leaning more on the atmospheric drum ‘n bass. with selections from Omni Trio, Ballistic Brothers, and PFM.

Here’s their “Conversions” DJ set …

“Conversions: A K&D Selection” also circa 1996.

Now, I can confidently say that this afternoon post feels more relevant.
