So it only took two weeks. But here’s Day 3 of Desert Daze.
Day 3 was the most relaxing of the three. The lighting storm was over, and Saturday’s full-throttle effort to make up for Friday’s cancellations had passed. So Day 3 was all about letting the sun come out, chilling on the beach, and soaking up some great music.
Some of the highlights were indie post-punk artist Preoccupations, the endless guitar riffs of psychedelic rock outfit Earthless, and perhaps the loudest band in the world, My Bloody Valentine.
But lets begin with how I started Day 3 … reclining on a beanbag on the beach underneath a circular curtain installation titled “Absolute Curtains: An Ode to Air.” Music was provided by a DJ camped out in the middle.

The setting was so relaxing that I ended up catching a nap for 20 or so minutes. And when I awoke, this was going on …

On to the music …
Preoccupations took the main stage mid-afternoon. Here’s their performance of “Death” and “Bunker Buster,” both songs written as their former band name Viet Cong, before changing it due to certain controversies.

Here’s a couple of minutes of Earthless’ epic 20 minute guitar jam “Ulura Rock.” I wish I had all of it, but it wasn’t meant to be.

And finally, here’s My Bloody Valentine’s full set. I was only going to post a couple of songs, and an accompany setlist/playlist. But Spotify was missing half the tracks. So this was the better alternative. I had to break it into 4 parts, since their set’s an hour and half long. But it’s totally worth it. Enjoy!
