Desert Daze: Day 2, Part 2

I’ve been meaning to post this one for a few days.  But you know, shit happens … So here we go … the second half of Day 2 of Desert Daze.

There’s a lot great stuff that happened on this second day, and especially in the second half of the day. There’s a phenomenal set by original indie shoegazers Slowdive, the madness that is Australia’s King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, and the strobing intensity of New York noise outfit A Place to Bury Strangers.

For starters, here’s a few impeccably dreamy offerings from Slowdive’s performance …

Slowdive perform “Slomo” @ Desert Daze on 10.13.18.

Slowdive perform “Star Roving” @ Desert Daze on 10.13.18.

Slowdive perform “Catch the Breeze” @ Desert Daze on 10.13.18.

Slowdive perform “Crazy for You” @ Desert Daze on 10.13.18.

Slowdive perform “Souvlaki Space Station” @ Desert Daze on 10.13.18.

Slowdive perform “When the Sun Hits” @ Desert Daze on 10.13.18.

Slowdive perform “Golden Hair” @ Desert Daze on 10.13.18.

Next up is Kind Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard.  Unfortunately, from this angle, you can’t see the dueling, front-facing drummers, who are behind that pillar of ribbons.  But you can definitely hear them.

King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard perform “Sleep Drifter” @ Desert Daze on 10.13.18.

King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard perform “Wah Wah” @ Desert Daze on 10.13.18.

King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard perform “Crumbling Castle” @ Desert Daze on 10.13.18.

King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard:

Lastly, here’s A Place to Bury Strangers, who bathe themselves either in fog-filled light, total darkness, or an overpowering wash of strobe lights – and sometimes a combination of all three.

A Place to Bury Strangers perform “In Your Heart” @ Desert Daze on 10.13.18.
