I heard this progressive house gem while waiting in an epically long line of cars to enter the Desert Daze festival grounds at Lake Perris. More on that in a later posting. But this track, “Wilde,” stood out. It’s by German DJ/Producer Jerome Isma-Ae, and collaborator Alastor. I don’t know anything about these guys. But I’ve heard Isma-Ae is highly sought after in the progressive house scene. Anyway, I gave “Wilde” a few listens to let it sink in. I had the time anyway.

“Wilde” is one of those tracks that doesn’t hit all at once. It needs to be absorbed over the duration. And in doing so, treats you to a minimal masterpiece of electronic music. There’s a focused progressive rhythm, layerings of distinct techno drum patterns, as well as moody synth-ambience. And I might add, it also works well as soundtrack for slow traffic-filled drives up a desert hill.
This is the extended mix, which is the only way to hear this track.
