Preoccupations’ “Doubt”

“Doubt” reminds me of what alternative rock used to sound like.  Back in the late ’80s-early ’90s, alternative music was often darker and dirge-ier in nature, somewhat gothic and rougher around the edges. 

With this track from their 2018 album “New Material,” Canadian artists Preoccupations seem to be channeling those lost sounds from the past.  To date, they’ve been called post-punk, post-rock, or what not.  But I think that’s underestimating their music.
