Everytime I hear Holy Motors’ “Honeymooning,” I feel instantly transported to the lonely desert highways of dusky downtempo melancholy. It’s akin to experiencing the dark psychedelia of early Mazzy Star for the first time. This is moody stuff. Maybe it’s due to the fact that Holy Motors hails from Estonia. Or just that they’ve tapped into a genre that’s been somewhat neglected as of late. Either way, they’re worth your time. Prepare for a slow burn …
