MC 900 Ft. Jesus’ “The City Sleeps”

MC 900 Ft. Jesus is Mark Griffin, a Dallas-based industrial lounge hip hop-styled artist with a flair for lingering noir as filtered through William S. Burroughs.

“The City Sleeps” came out in 1991, but I was reminded of it late last year, when MC 900 Ft. Jesus performed along with industrial rock acts Revolting Cocks and Meat Beat Manifesto for the Cold Waves Festival at the Regent Theatre in DTLA.

So it’s been in the back of my mind, waiting to be told. And earlier this evening, after a spontaneous conversation about early ’90s music brought it back out, I’m now able to share it with you.
