Seems like everything old continues to be new again … and again … and again. Not necessarily a bad thing, depending on your point of view. Take the ’80s, for example. A decade we have to thank for contemporary acts like M83, SURVIVE (Stranger Things), and the focus of this post, The Midnight.
The Midnight formed in Los Angeles back in 2012. I’ve heard the soundtrack to “Drive” was a big inspiration for their sound. But listening to their music, I think it goes far deeper than that. This is full-on ’80s immersive synth-pop, as interpreted through millennial eyes.
“The Comeback Kid” was first introduced to me by my work supervisor last year. It’s stuck with me ever since, and remains my favorite song they’ve recorded. Here it is, live at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles, CA on 09-21-18.
The Midnight perform “The Comeback Kid” at the Fonda Theatre on 09.21.18.
And for you Spotifiers that want to add it to your playlists (and you should)…
